Neurpsychology: Brain Mapping

Projection Maps trace sensory/motor axons to the brain from their respective systems. Functional Maps are constructed from informations provided from the observation of the effect of brain electrical stimulation on behaviour, recording the brain’s electrical activity during some form of behaviours and associating damage to the brain with subsequent behavioural impairment. The most well known functional map is based on Wilder Penfield’s studies of brain electric stimulation during surgery and outlines the motor and somato-sensory regions of the brain. One of the more widely used maps - Brodmann’s cyto architectonic map.
